“We are saved by faith alone, but faith that saves is never alone.” – Martin Luther
This statement captures the heart of the Gospel. Salvation is a gift and is not something we earn.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works, lest anyone should boast.” – Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)
We are made right with God by trusting in Jesus Christ alone.
“Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – Romans 5:1 (NKJV)
But while works do not save us, true faith always produces change.
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works…” – Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV)
“Faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” – James 2:17 (NKJV)
Saving faith leads to repentance, obedience, love, and spiritual growth. We are not saved because we do good works, we do good works because we are saved.
Grace is the root.
Works are the fruit.
