Real Strength of a Man

I really wanted to share my thoughts regarding the strength of a man. Like most people reading this you probably have parents or relatives who are from the baby boomer generation born between 1965 and 1979. I’m from the Generation X era, after Gen X there’s Gen Next or Y, Gen Z, and the latest Gen Alpha which would have less time with people from the baby boomer era as our lives progress and only by God’s grace we grown old and pass on to His Kingdom.

If your a man around my age (48) perhaps you can relate to being more than likely told what a man should be. A large figure, stern voice, big stature that would certainly straighten and square up your shoulders.Perhaps you’ve heard the words suck it up more times in a week than someone from Gen Alpha heard in their short life, kinda funny but most likely valid. We weren’t supposed to cry, rub some dirt on it, etc…and because we looked up to those who raised us we would try to live up that that image we’ve spent out lives witnessing. We wanted to be strong manly men, which I have learned is just nothing more than a front, a way to disguise all of our fears, insecurities, and short comings. Most importantly, all of the so called manliness is nothing more than our own deceit.

I read in 2 Corinthians 13:4 Paul was man enough to admit this very key thing when he wrote this: “We are weak,” which to me is very humbling. Paul also tells us that we need to “be courageous” in 1 Corinthians 16:13. One thing that I know for me is that it has only been by God’s grace and mercy that I have the chance to learn how to be the strong person God intended me to be, and it’s not anything close to what I learned for 46 years of life. I think its important to realize that this can only happen when we put ourselves in God’s hands, that through prayer, His power will enable us to be strong. His word is the truth which we need to transform our ways from what we learned from those before us like the Baby Boomer generation.

If you don’t have a relationship with Jesus Christ, reach out to me and I’ll make the introduction. Once you get to know Jesus, you’ll know what real strength truly is.
